Should Everyone Use Undereye Concealer?
Don’t forget the concealer!
I have seen so many great makeup looks completely ruined by a person forgetting to use undereye concealer. There seems to be reluctance among women to use eye concealers to get rid of those unsightly undereye circles. A great makeup look just isn’t complete unless those circles are concealed.
Undereye concealers can’t do a lot for those undereye bags, but they go a long way toward giving you the best put-together look. So many women these days are going for the natural cosmetics look and they are mistaking natural for no makeup.
Although, you’ve probably heard it a million times before, the natural look involves well applied makeup. If you’ve got bags, take the time to get some sleep or depuff with a couple of cool teabags. Then get set to apply your makeup, and use those concealers!
When to apply undereye concealer.
I prefer to apply under eye concealer after I have applied my foundation. If you apply your concealer before your foundation, you run the risk of wiping it off with your foundation brush or sponge. Whatever tool you use to apply your foundation; your fingers, a damp sponge, or a foundation brush, is all you’ll need for your concealer too. No special tools are needed.
After you apply your foundation, put a little bit of concealer that is just a shade or two lighter than your foundation and apply it under the eye along the eye socket where the circles are usually the darkest. Most women don’t need concealer all the way from the bone to the undereye lash line. Be careful when applying concealer since that undereye skin is very delicate. You want to avoid pulling and tugging the undereye skin.
If you are using your finger, pat the concealer on. If you are using a foundation brush, put a little concealer on the back of your hand and then dip your brush in, and gently feather it on. I prefer to put just a dot of the concealer directly onto my foundation brush but I’m a pro and I’m used to it. Play with it a little and find out what works best for you. If you are using a cosmetics sponge to apply your concealer, again, put the concealer on the back of your hand and put it on the sponge from there. When you use a sponge, avoid the urge to “rub” your concealer on under your eyes. That will pull the delicate under eye tissue.
What is the best concealer for you?
The best concealer to use is the one that works best for you. So many products advertise that they are best for oily skin or for dry skin. Although it used to be true that stick concealers were bad for dry skin, they have become so moist these days that the problem of settling into the lines is not as bad. Cream concealers are great for dry skin, but I know a lot of women who have oily skin that love them Because different concealers work best for different women, start with the kind that is recommended for your skin type, but don’t be afraid of trying one that is not.
